Navec and Holcim: monitoring the decarbonization project in Koromačno

Navec and Holcim collaborated on a major decarbonization project in Koromačno, Croatia. The works, assigned to Navec by Holcim Croatia and valued at 20 million euros, aim to reduce CO2 emissions from the Holcim cement plant through a series of innovative interventions.

The core of the project is a new facility for receiving, storing and dosing alternative fuels, designed to improve the efficiency of the cement production process and significantly cut CO2 and chlorine emissions. The project also includes a new calciner and a chlorine bypass, further improving the plant’s energy efficiency — an integral part of Holcim’s strategy towards Net Zero.

Timelapse Croatia monitored the works from November 2023 to July 2024 using TL8 and TLA8 devices, ensuring constant and detailed control over progress. Continuous monitoring allowed timely identification of issues, resource optimisation, fewer on-site visits and better project management — along with complete visual documentation for analysis and progress sharing with all stakeholders.
